Subcommittee Hearings

The subcommittee holds hearings to better understand what the bill is about and why it should become law. During these hearings they call experts, people who the bill would help, people opposed to the bill, and the senator who introduced the bill. They have been known for calling celebrities to help raise awareness for a bill, for example in April 2000 Christopher Reeve testified before the Senate Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services to help raise funding for stem cell research.
